Opportunity at a Glance

Federal Work Study student workers assist various departments per the approved positions below.  All work performed must be in the context of assisting students.

Approved positions include Activity Assistant, Career Services Student Assistant, Clinical Compliance Assistant, IT/Lab/Help Desk Student Assistant, Library Student Assistant, Registrar Support, Research Assistant, Resident Hall Advisor/Assistants, Student Finance Student Assistant, Student Services Assistant, Academic Support Student Assistant (Tutor/Peer Advisor).

 

Responsibilities

Greets students and assist in answering general questions.

Assists students with transcripts, schedule and course changes, and demographic changes.

Assists students in the appeals process, Graduation Petition process, registration process, adds and drops, and withdrawals.

Monitors student central appointments during peak registration times. Sets appointments for students with Deans, Chairs, faculty, Student Finance, etc.

Assists with student related campus events and organizations, job fairs, Senior Project and other special projects related specifically to students.

Assists students in the Library with research projects and locating web based and publication resources.

Provides academic assistance and tutoring to students.

Completes other duties as assigned.

The job requirements are as follows: 

  • Creating, planning, organizing, decorating & hosting campus events.  
  • Promoting events on DCSA social media accounts.  
  • Talking to different companies, organizations, and vendors for DCSA events: i.e. entertainment, food or other related purposes.  
  • Working collaboratively with other organizations on campus and posting promotional blurbs for all organizations on campus in our weekly newsletter; The Toilet Paper.  
  • Creating promotional materials for events on campus, including power point slides, flyers, handouts, promotional videos for the DCSA YouTube channel and posters.  
  • Decorating and helping out as needed with other events on campus / co-hosting events with other organizations on campus.  
  • Helping students get more involved with organizations on campus as well as promoting social gatherings amongst the student population.  
  • Helping other student clubs and organizations on campus with events.  
  • Creativity, adaptability and flexibility are key characteristics of this job and are greatly encouraged.
